BRAVE! Week 2: Thorns Summary

Thorns nobody likes them, however I have come to acknowledge that I can not grow closer to God if I am constantly holding on to this thorn trying to "fix" it myself.

Day 1:  The Pain of a Thorn

The problem with thorns is that they can hide unseen, and no one wants to feel the jab of their pain.

2 Corinthians 12:7-9 even though I have received such wonderful revelations from God. So to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud.
8 Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. 9 Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.

Day 2: The Barbs of a Thorn

~Cannot be removed by your own Power~
2 Corinthians 12:8 Three times I begged the Lord to take it away.

~The originator of the thorn is satan~
2 Corinthians 12:7  Even though I have received such wonderful revelations from God. So to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud.

~A Thorn torments the soul with pain and doubt~
KNOW THIS: God may allow a thorn, but scripture teaches us  that what Satan means for evil, God can use for good.  (Genesis 5:20)

Day 3: The Barbs of a Thorn (Part 2)
~A thorn leaves discouragement into your heart~

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.  Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus

1 Peter 5:7

7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

~The Piercing of a thorn produces weakness~

2 Corinthians 12:9

9 Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.

~God decides when to remove a thorn~

Day 4: Humility
Philippians 4:12-13
12 I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. 13 For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.

Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it's thinking of yourself less!

Accepting our thorns leads us toward true humility

Day 5: Sufficient Grace

Maybe the ability to accomplish  God's tasks does not rely on our adequacy or even our comfort but in God's ability to perfect His power in our weakness

Ladies It's my prayer that your will embrace your thorns even when they feel like their is no relief in sight.  And that God's Grace will be enough!

Have a Beautiful Day!

BRAVE! Week 2: Thorns

Ok Ladies this week we are talking about the thorns in our life. I have lived with a thorn for several years with no relief in site but I find encouragement in God's word. This song also brings me encouragement to know that eventhough I have this one particular thorn God's got a good handle on it! I am not alone! Even though its been a rough road I know God is with me! I'll be back later to summarize the week! Know God Loves you! He hasn't allowed the thorn to punish you, but to grow you closer to Him!

Have a Beautiful Day!

BRAVE Week 1: Worn Out Summary

Ladies I hope you are enjoying this weeks study as much as I am! Boy did week one speak directly to me.  I am exhausted, worn out, tired!  But I have hope, and a reassurance, that God will give me a rest!

Day One: I am not Superwoman!  I can not do it all! <3
~The truth of our humanity is that no superwoman exist on this earth~
~Facing my limitations and weakness forces me to do a few things.  First, I have to put my faith in God.

And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19

Day Two: We will all become tired in some way, in some season. No one is exempt!

~God knows that good work makes a good woman good and tired.

She has wearied herself with toil. Ezekiel 24:12

It is so easy to let our perspective slide. Lord knows, we just flat-out forget.  Before we realize it, our heart has fallen into anxiousness, our work has become anxious, and our focus has turned from God.  We are just exhausted.

Day Three: We need a rest only God can give.

~Where do you go  with your weary?  Where do you turn when you're tired?

Many of us are doing great worldly things to care for ourselves and yet not living with an inside strength to counter our soul weariness.  What's a woman who loves God supposed to do?  ~TURN TO GOD FIRST!~

Isaiah 40:28-31

28 Do you not know?
   Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
   and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the LORD
   will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

A hope firmly centered on the Lord renews our strength.

Day Four:  A Brave Woman receives God's gifts for her weariness .

~Your creator gets you.  He understands your crazy life.
~God's compassion towards us is not consistent and faithful but it is unfailing.  With out interruption. Steady. Reliable. Promised and Sure.

1.  The presence of God restores

Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28

2. Many times we experience A Divine Wait before refreshment

We wait in hope for the Lord.  Psalm 33:20

Sometimes He desires that we wait in His presence  until we receive His refreshment, we wait for strength, guidance, and healing

3.  The sabbath rest is God's gift to us
To observe the sabbath we should worship the Lord and rest from our work.

What will you do to observe a time of sabbath?

4.Jesus did not heal everyone or go to every town

I can't do everything!
(I want to shout this from the mountains!)

God is calling me to go only as He guides.

Day Five: God has made a way for us!

5.  Jesus required physical, mental, and emotional rest.

Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.   1 Corinthians 11:1

Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.” He said this because there were so many people coming and going that Jesus and his apostles didn’t even have time to eat. Mark 6:31

6.   Repentance leads to refreshing

~Being cleansed of our sin gives refreshment to our weary souls over and over all throughout our journey.

7. If you walk in the good way, your soul will rest

-Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls.  Jeremiah 6:16

~ I want all the rest that a good life will bring.

8.  Godly friends refresh your soul

Do you have a soul-refreshing friend?  I sure hope so!  I have a few and I thank God for them!

I am praying for you, that if you are weary, worn out, that you will find rest in God!

Have a Beautiful Day!
