Leaving a Legacy

I had the joy of spending the weekend away with a few ladies attending the Women Walking with God Conference: Leaving a Legacy.  I really enjoyed getting to know some of the ladies at FBC a little bit better as well as getting refreshed and renewed at the  conference.  I thought I would share some of what I took from the weekend.

First Mom's we are somebodies ancestor!
We count!
What we do does matter.
Mom's are the #1 influence on their children's faith!
Be the parent you want your children to be to your grandchildren.
Be the kind of Woman you want your daughter to be!

Older women need younger women and younger women need older women in their lives!

Titus 2:3-5 3 Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. 4 Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.

BTW Be the Woman

1. What do I do?  Bible, Read it everyday! Go to it when you don't know what to do!  Seek out God's word for questions to life's answers! Be intentional!
2. Spend time in Prayer! (devoted time each day!) be in conversation with God If you aren't working your spiritual muscles they will get flabby! Praying constantly will build them up!
3.  Be a Blessing to someone each day! Think about someone else today! Reach out to others!

Breaking the Cycle of an unhealthy legacy:
If you engage in the quest for perfection, you perpetuate the problem!
Allow for imperfections in your life!
If you feel less tha perfect you need to go back to the one who created you!
Satan is sneaky and will use whatever sin is your weakness to attack you, to make you feel unworthy, unloved, unimportant!

Psalm 40:1-2 1 I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. 2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.

Mark 12:31 tells us to love our neighbor as ourself!  But we must Love ourselves to do this! We need to model self worth to others.

Showing God's love is a priority!

Philippians 4:6-7 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Psalm 78:1-8

Deuteronomy 6:5-9 (The Message)  5 Love God, your God, with your whole heart: love him with all that's in you, love him with all you've got! 6-9 Write these commandments that I've given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night. Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder; inscribe them on the door posts of your homes and on your city gates.

Psalm 100:3-5  Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with Thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

We all have a story!

I think one of the biggest things I will take away is that it's important for me to take time for myself!  We women generally don't do that enough!  But it's important for us to care for ourselves so that we can care for others!  I needed this little weekend away! ( A little longer would have been better!) It's important to remember we need to be a priority in our lives to!  It's okay to take time away, go on dates (with your spouse), have girls nights, and do something nice for yourself so that you can do for others!

What Legacy will you leave?

Have a Beautiful Day!
